How bad are ported clamshells?

I'm trying to stuff 4 18's in a '88 Bronco II and I can't fit them flat faced, so, only option is a clam shell, and I don't want to do it sealed.

Here's is what I have so far.

I heard he blew his subs with that box though, that is why I asked.

I've seen all of the Expedition vids, that d@mn thing was loud, but he was working with a lot more money, power and subs then I will be.

well if he did it would of been too much power(not the box's fault) or playing below tuning (also not the boxes fault). i dont see how it would be the boxes fault to blow subs. just user error. maybe hell chime in, or you can pm him on youtube or on here. i think its galacticmonkey.

his tuning was too low. he might have been clipping the subs. coulda been too much power. maybe he just doesnt know when to turn it down? to many factors when it comes to blowing subs. it would work out just fine as long as you know what u are doing.

Awesome.

Thanks all.

When I get about $900-1200.

Expect to see this build.

Oh and about $80 for the wood.

will the motor hit the box with the holes for the subs so close to the edge?
Don't know, and that's why I'm in Skethcup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

EDIT: Actually, no. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But, I would invert them if need be.

well how much height/width/depth do u have for the actual square enclosure? so u can figure out what angle the sub will be at aposed to how much port area u are going to need.

If that sketch is using your max dimensions, I would scrap the 18's idea and go with 4x15's. Those baffles look like they'll fold.
The holes count the outer dimensions of the woofer, so I couls see if they would fit width wise.

I have for dimensions:

34 Tall

42 Wide

And between 40-32 Deep.

I didn't want the wall all the way up to behind the seats, but If i need to I will.

Bracing is planed for the baffle's.
