4 12's + powerful amp?

I'm working on my car, 1997 Chrysler LHS... was wondering what's my best bet for sub's and a powerful amp?

I would like 1 amp to power all four subs. Can someone recommend a nice amp and four 12" subs? I'm looking for it to be relatively cheap, but I want to give people a reason to be amazed when I pop the trunk, or just turn on the stereo. I'm looking to mount them on a piece of wood and put in trunk (the trunk is huge!).

Do you want SPL or SQ? This is a very general question here.. We need a number for a budget, not just the word "cheap." People define cheap differently, I would say cheap is around $300 for a set up, someone else might say $600... Give us a number, and something to go by, and we can help you.

Also, how big is the trunk, are you going to port 4 subs or seal them off?

Well, I'm looking for bass. I guess I want good sound-quality, but loud. I don't want it to distort at all, I see people blasting their music and it sounds so crappy.

I have $600 to spend, but I rather not spend it all on the subwoofers (I'm working on a lot for my car). Crutchfield has the Kicker Comp 05C124, buy 1 get 1 free for $90... I know nothing about car sound, but the reviews are great. I think I want to do free air? The trunk is about 50" width, a foot or so high, maybe around 50" length.
