4 12's or 2 15's

most people here will dissagree but i think that bigger subs play lower notes louder, cleaner, "tighter", just all around better than smaller subs... likewise smaller subs are better with the higher notes... just my opinion.... but with 12's you really shouldn't have to worry about range, 4 12's will give you plenty of bass at almost any frequency and still retain that tight "punch" that is down right more difficult to get from a 15, so yeah i vote 12's

its the way the box is desgined which makes the woofers play differently. although yes you are correct the bigger the woofer in the same model usually the lower (fs)

The problem with larger subs becomes controll of cone movement etc if not addressed. The reasons larger subs play lower is because they displace more air. If you have a smaller sub reaching X-max for displace x amount of air it will probably not play as clean as larger sub that can displace the same amount x of air with less movement.

4 12's have more cone area than 2 15's so it will likely be capable of displaying more air and be mch louder but they would be more expensive and take more power.

and really 4 12's dont have a huge edge on 2 15's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

actually i agree with him, think about the frequency 20 hz... both a 10 and a 15 move 20 times a second to make that sound but because of the size of the 15 it plays that frequency ALOT louder than the 10, on the other hand a 15 has a harder time moving 100 times a second at the same excursion... because of that mass and air pressure on the cone... so its strength in the low frequency becomes its weakness in the high range, of course this is fairly easy to compensate for with a crossover slope, still i preffer 12's to 15's er better yet 13's:naughty: ( sry i just had to throw that in there)

i am prolly using 4 12's in my future setup.
and no, 15 play lower than 12's. its just 12'' type r's play low enough for me
