4 12"s VS 2 18"s

I am in a debate. My first setup consisted of 2 15"s. I liked them. Then I gave the 2 18"s a try and I liked them even better. Now I am gonna give 4 12"s a try. I really liked the low hard hitting deep bass produced by the 18"s. What kinda pros and cons and the differences should I expect from the 4 12"s VS the 2 18"s?

I would stick with the 2 18's. Have fun wiring 4 12's.
Its not that hard...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused:

It's harder than 2 18's. Did you ever get your volts up?

Since when is wiring holding people back from doing multiple sub setups? Voltage will be up in the new setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D

I am gonna be running about 2k watts more
depending on the x-max and the surface area of the 18's and the 12's, the output should be around the same with that much power. If you do a good job, there could be some improvement in there though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

cone area goes to the 18's but only by 10-20%, but if your adding 2k watts (i see your already running close 2 4k watts) i honestly don't think you'll see much of a difference unless you change some drastically, like the subwoofers themselves, what im getting at is i wouldn't go with 4 alpha 12's, i don't think youll see much of a difference, 1-3db at best, but thats jus theoretical, so who knows

6 12's walled with a fat *** port would be retarded loud in an explorer.
then again, 6 12's and 2 18's on similar power would be very similar in output.

so, i vote 6 12s on moar power!
6-12's would be approx 30% increase in cone area, so figure 1 decibal increase (100% increase is theoretical 3db increase) 6k watts vs 4k watts 50% increase in power again, 1.5db increase.... however the biggest thing you mentioned was a wall... doing a wall drastically changes cabin volume and i believe also changes the dynamics of cabin gain... so im not going to even bother to try and guess that one.

i vote for 4 hdc3 12's walled, or 4 15s no wall, 6-7k watts
