I already have 2 10" infinity perfect vq's & 1 15" avalanche on it's way. i was thinking of maybe ordering 2 more 10's for a total of 4 10's. I have a pg titanium 1000.2 which can power 1156 watts @ 4 ohms. each 10 would see about 289 watts. would you guys prefer 4 10's or 1 15" avalanche? i know both set ups will give me good sound quality, but which set up do guys thing will sound better?

thanks

Either would be pretty **** cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I bet the 15 would get lower tho, and the 10's would probably be a lil louder...

Getting lower will be box dependent...
Yeah but wont bigger drivers get lower still than smaller ones? And smaller ones will get higher? Since the bigger one is more difficult to move as fast and the smaller one is more difficult to move as slow? I remember reading something like that somewhere... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

No, Thats a common misconseption. It's been discussed to death. The thing that will determine "playing low/high" will be the box.

Speaker size will not effect the low lows. You should hear how low my 8's go:)

i went with 3 infinity perfect 10.1's sealed and they sounded GGRREEEATTTT

HOWEVER

my xxx 15 now ported (i'd say relativly on the same level as the avalanche) sound as clean as those 10's but holy ******* Fing Chrst the lows are INSANELY better and the SPL is ginormously better with the same power...

my friend has 4 audio pipe 10s selaed with the same power and his has better midbass butmy xxx15 OWNS his at 40Hz and below.... OWNS I SAY, SPL AND SQ, it hits those lows with NOOOO problems, and i mean HIT

Larger subs do have more low end output (generally) than smaller subs. That part is not a misconception. The reason they have more low end output is due to the greater cone area (more displacement). But if you have and array of smaller subs (four 10's in this situation) with more over all cone area (ignoring cone excursion here.. lets assume they are the same), the tables are turned.

I see people all the time suggest that a larger sub will always play lower than (seemingly) any number of smaller subs. I have to wonder, do they think one 15 will play lower than twenty 8's would? How about fifty 8's? hmmm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

But we were not talking about output. Just the shear fact of a larger sub going lower.

I could have a 10 play lower than a 18 but of course it will not be as loud. It's a smaller sub.

I know you wanted to chime in with your wisdom but it was kind of OT.
