3ohm bridged? few questions

i have a leftover 10w3v2 d6 sub. do you think a ppi a600.2 could handle a 3 ohm bridged load effectively or would it sound blah? i am thinkin i might have to spring and buy a new slash series JL amp as they are rated bridged to 3 ohm. any thoughts to this mattter?

Ya, i was just reffering to nooblets post. If i was in your position (slow6brick) you're going to buy a new amp if this one doesn't work. So you might as well hook it all up, and if it gets super hot just take it off and sale it. And if you **** it up, you were going to buy a new one anyway. You might be able to do it, but i don't see it handleing it for long periods of time.

I think it would as long as it wasnt pushed too hard. You dont hear too much about ppi's failing but monitor it for a while if the published ratings say it is only stable @ 4ohms bridged.

well is there any way to raise the resistance of the 3 ohm sub load to 4ohms? i dont think you can just daisy chain resistor blocks in there like we used to do wiring the center channel up...any input???

worse case i will just buy a new amp, correct? i just dont get how every ppi amp i have had has taken tons of abuse and never failed. and how JL can support a 3ohm bridged load and their specs are **** near the same of the a600.2. ppi uses regulated power supply, etc.

Just find a program that'll help you figure out ohm loads. and i'm sure you can put some sort of inline resistor in there and get a 4 ohm load. Maybe a 1 ohm resistor inline would do it?

The 3 ohms is a nominal rating, as the sub plays its resistance will change significantly both up and down. The amplifiers rating is also nominal, it will handle dips well below 4 ohms mono for short periods of time.

The only way to see if your amp will handle it is to hook it up and see.
