Anyone had any experience with these amps? I was thinking of buying it, but I read a lot of reviews and a lot of people said it is a drain on their electrical system.

If I did the Big 3, would I be allright running this amp (at 2ohms to get the full 800rms)

Or would the MA AUDIO HK398 be a better choice? I would run it at 600w, would this be less of a damper on my stock altenator, and lessen the chances of me having to upgrade?

Actually that is one of the most efficient amplifiers that Ive worked with. 75amps of fuses for 800+RMS!

How many amps is your alternator?

I think it is 60amps, I am not positive. How would I find this out, what would I use?

just call ur local auto parts store or mechanic to find out how many amps ur alt puts out... or one of use might know if you ask nicely

I have the MTX 801D amp right now pushing my 2 12" MTX 8500 Thunders I have them wired to 2 ohms right now and it sounds great to me. However I do get some dimming in my boost gauge and in my lights.

Is there a sticky or something about the big 3 I wanna do this but dont know where to get the information at.

A cars factory electrical system will generally handle up to 500 watts rms total with no noticable problems, once you get into the 800watt+ territory the big three and an alternator upgrade should be considered.

Basically the big 3 includes beefing up your cars chassis grounds and adding a bigger wire from your alternator to your battery.

For cars, but for most trucks, you chould be fine till around 1,000 with a good battery. Notice I used with most and should though, im not garunteeing anything.
