TL meters can and do fail. I'm not saying this is what happened as I'm sure he's backed up that score a number of times in practice. I got beat out at a show once by a guy in a PT cruiser with 2 12" Pioneers and a Pioneer amp in an all out burp contest. I had a Casacade Designs Omega and a SAZ-3000D at the time. The guy metered again on a different meter and lost 8 db. He said it was because his caps didn't have time to charge lol. I backed up my previous score and got bumped to first.
