So i just rebought my old singer 6 phase 320A alt and its all good untill i stop, if im at a red light the voltage drops to 13.4 but driving im a steady 14.4. And also at idle its suppose to do 220A but im still dropping to 11.9 in park. Do i need a smaller belt i hear it slightly slipping like a tiny squeel every now and then but literally have to put ear next to belt to hear it

It's not the batteries. It's just what kind of regulator in the alt. my buddies Mechman was the same way. Would charge fine when driving but at idle would turn off and be just on battery power... My buddy got tired of it and got an excessive hairpin and now 14.4v at idle.

That does make alot of sense

Thats the thing battery has been giving me problems it keep dying but i checked everything and nothing is on whenthe keys are out so idk why it dies. Ive been neglecting my truck and only drive it for like 4 miles around the neighborhood on subdays. Sears wont replace it because they say its good when they load test it. Its a hairpin alt so it ahould be giving me 220A at idle but its not

I had some Redtops that was doing that to me(twice) before I got the Orileys AGMs..Bad batch of batts, and ended up ruining my 250 amp alt in the process.I replaced the Alt,and Bought the two new orileys agm batts, and have been good sense.Id find a way to run that batt down to nothing and get a replacement on warranty.I couldnt find any issues either.I replaced the batts the night before, came out to go to work, and the batts were down too low to crank the truck up.I still have the alt,and had it tested, and was fine/no issues.I think its your batt to be honest, but very well could be the regulator in the alt.But batt is deff not keeping a charge by this comment

ill try removing the batt and seeing if it dies on its own, but i just think its weird how the alt drops that 1 volt if my rpms drop. And then at idle its like i dont even hve a HO alt

Now, I did have a 91 model Civic Hatch that was ugly but had an Si motor in it about three years ago before I got the CRV that I had issues with of the batt draining over night with a bnew batt and alt. i took batt out and placed it on a charger and charged it, then let it set for a day and seemed to be just fine.two days later it wouldnt crank.Placed batt back on charge and did same thing next day..So, I took the Bnew alt out and went get it tested, and it was bad..they gave me another alt, and I wanted them to test it out before I left, and it was bad..went to 4 other Orileys, and all BNIB alts were bad as well..Ended up at an Autozone and after money back from orileys I bought an alt from there and had tested it before leaving, and it was fine.Placed it on the car and batt charged up, and never had any other issues..So, it could be either? Just got figure out which one it is

If you can take the alt off and find an alt repair shop, rather than Orileys/Autozone that can test it would be ideal that sell ho alts for like diesel trucks they have the machine to test them out for ho alts/larger alts. The place I buy mine rebuild/sell/make ho alts,is where I got my ho tested at.Autozones machine couldnt read above 160 near my house.
