You can probably get a free HDTV cable box from your cable company. They should have at least 20 free HDTV channels. Also connect the box with an HDMI cable or some good component ones.

I would say the same as far as connections for the dvd player.

well,i dont own any hd-dvd's or blurays. just want the best picture from my regular dvd's.

i was lookin at these two models

im leaning towards the phillips with the hdmi and progressive scan (whatever that is). but my girlfriend likes the black toshiba.

i got the box out in the living room and i do get a few hd channels. just need to figure out settings and stuff today. which should i use if both are available, hdmi or component?

Use HDMI if you can, although the cords are kind of expensive. Components pretty awesome too if you want to go cheaper (the 3 or 4, i forget how many, colored inputs that look just like rcas)

Is the box from the living room a HDTV cable box though? You should be getting like discovery channel HD, ESPN HD, etc etc. It should look freakin amazing.

yeah ,its a hd box.when i went to program the channels , a few HD's came up. the picture made me smile ear to ear. i watched the replay of espn's contender (sakio vs jaidon). excellent quality.

i think im going to snag up that phillips dvd player.

holy shit @ the prices of hdmi cables...
