Im thinking about dropping 300 bucks into replacing my current sub system. I already have the cables and that wont have to be a cost. I would like to try for a 12, but i think it would be better for 1 10 in my truck. I have a gmc sierra pickup standard cab and fitting a 12 might require too big a box for me to be able to fit. Right now i have 2 8's and there is some bass that sounds nice, but on really bassy music it farts out and it cant thump at all, the good bass is just the vibration it can put out. I want to make sure that what i get is definitely an upgrade.

Look into older JL woofers, RF shallow mount subs, Kicker shallow mount subs, ect...

Decide on the subs, so we can tell you the right amp to supply the subs with the power they need.

meh, i'm goin with 2 12s..... so.... depend on weater you want 2 10s or 1 12 or 2 12s... personally, i recomend kicker... but thats just me.....

measure it out and see how many cubic feet you have behind your seat. you would be suprised once you start measuring what you can end up with. you might not have to settle for shallow mounts.

Sorry i forgot to mention one major thing. This is 300 for the whole setup: sub, box, and amp, if possible. The deal on the 2 kicker 12's seems nice but most people say you will benefit more from 2 amps to 2 subs instead of using both channels, so i doubt i could fit under 300 at all then. Unless i guess i could use my cheap amp i have now and just get another for the second sub. Would it have any issues with sound having 1 that is kicking pretty hard and one that is a little weaker?

Ok i took some measurements.

Behind driver and passenger seats at floor level i have 12" to back wall. At a measurement 14" above the floor i have 8.5" from the seat to the wall. I sit upright a little more then some people.

In the middle behind my middle console to the back wall its 10", so if i got a box that went across both seats it would have to be 10" in the middle.

The 12's are 1.86 cuft. The 10's are 1.51 cuft. The minimum recommended sealed size on kicker is .8 for 10's and 1 for 12's. So my question is, will i just multiply by 2 for 2 subs, or is it different when using a dual box. Because both boxes are a little below the minimum if that is true.

Ok and another question. When do i need to start getting the caps, etc. And at what point will i start having to do things more complicated electronically, for ex. batteries, line fuses and stuff. Right now im just wired to my battery with a fuse in the line, so if i was to get another amp can i just do the same and not have to worry about things going wrong? Is it only the major systems that require the extra parts?

Also what is the difference between the 05cvr's and 07cvr's? Would that be year? Because the specs are identical but the price is about half for the 05.

It states its 4ohm, so does that mean i buy a 2ohm sub dual voice coil and then just bridge the amp, according to crutchfield this will make the amp see 4 ohms total.
