is the plug round or square?

it is a round plug. My factory plug didn't fit so I just had to splice the wire. It's only one groung wire.

If I make a bracket for a different car besides a GM, how and which wire on the plug would I need to hook up?

The plug only has 1 wire which is a ground. All you need to do is splice into the current ground wire.
