3 way over 2 way

Help. I used to live in Georgia and had a shop I trusted for all my work but I am in Florida now. After speaking to a couple shops and understanding why Dodge went with 6X9's in my doors and rears for mid bass the shop says I should do a three way system over the two way that I have always done. I trust these guys but what is the advantages and or disadvantages? Is that the right way to go? I can list my items going in if that helps? Thanks

...., its Coaxials speakers...

Save your time, ditch the rear fill...or run it off your new HU...

Spend your money on a decent HU, Front Stage 2-way component set and a decent Sub and amps to power all of it...

3-way systems are decent for imaging if your running active. I tend to stick with 2-way components. 3-ways sound nice if your substage is very low, very minimal... like maybe one 8" sealed. I'd prefer a 3-way component set if I wasnt going to run a subwoofer. If your going to run a substage, get a decent 2-way component system. As far as rearfill goes, everyone has theyre own opinion. I personally like having rearfill. It just doesnt sound "full" without it. But in a truck, especially a single cab, rearfill wouldnt really matter. You could then do a full 3-way set + a nice substage if your in a truck since all your components and coaxials are so close together. In cars, I think its best to have some sort of rearfill. just my 2cents

Ok its a Dodge Charger Super Bee.

(My shop says it's just rear fill and a waste but it is only a little bit more money so why not do it?)

2 JL Audio 12W7's

The 13W7's were going to take up more space then I wanted to lose so the car has no spare so we are going to build them in that space (3.5 Cube space) plus raise the rest of the floor for the amps and relocate the factory battery as well as add another.

your going to need a proper crossover to run them 3-way. i also suggest running them active if your going to do your frontstage 3-way. and i wouldnt add a component set to the rear. just get a decent set of 6x9's coaxials, or maybe even some 6.5" coaxials and make a ring for them to fit. the pressure from the bass tends to mess with rear speakers alot. so spending that extra money on a full rear component set could potentionally cost you more money in the long run, having to replace them. which is why i say stick with coaxials

They say they have the crossovers though I thought you use the ones that come with the set? I don't know what the active means but they said just use my MB's in the rear deck since I already have them so to me for about a 100 more why not run it as a three way as well?

if your buy a 2-way component set, the crossover is for a 2-way component set. you need an extra set of terminals on the crossovers to add your 4" speakers. the 2-way crossover will have your Input, Tweeter, and Midbass hookups. Youll need a 4th for the midrange. And going active means amping them all seperatly. Amp your midbass, your tweets, midrange with an active crossover.

component sets are passive crossover setups.

Are we talking components? or coaxials.
i dont know. i answered what i thought he was asking lol. he has coaxials, the shop he went to says he should run 2 set of 3-way components. i think i pretty much got it covered tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if your spending that kinda money, and obviously you dont kow much about car audio (no offense but its obvious by your questions) find a QUALITY car audio store by finding people who have used them and are happy. theres so many people giving bad advise and they will all enjoy spending your money and will blame someone else when your system sounds and performs like poop.

find a great car audio store, go see them, tell them what you want, and let them decide how to acheive it.

or, go to the closest car audio store, tell them what you want based on the imfo you go t here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

and be very very pissed.

for this kinda money, your car can sound beautiful and get very loud if done correctly.

it can also burn to the ground on the first night,

get an alarm 2.a good 1 not a cheap 1.
