ok so i went to ground out my RCA's on the back of my pioneer deck.. get that done put everything back in, turn the ignition.... no radio... i'm like shit... uh ok... pull it all out find the battery lead is disconnected, reconnect it, still no go. i check the fuses up front, they all look good. i drove down to the chevy dealership to find out where the radio fuses are and he prints me 40 pages of diagrams, he then gives me the cliffnotes and says look under rear seats fuses 11 and 41. i check em they look good. so the radio still doesnt go on. i get back to school and mess around some more, hook the HU up to the battery directly, it powers right up. not the HU, so i go back to the idea that its a fuse issue. i re-check the fuses and i realize that i checked the wrong fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

oops. problem solved

just thought i'd share my horror story of the afternoon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

we all have those days...
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif Before I found out about the Pioneer RCA grounding issue, I went crazy trying to kill my alt whine. I went as far as to change ALL my wiring and hook up many sources to my HU.

I then put some wire around the rcas, and BAM done.

I slit my thumb open and bled all over myself, gave the tip of my finger a 2nd degree burn, and got stabbed to the bone on my middle finger all while trying to run my power wire today. Some days are just off days.

The burn was from cutting out a hole through the firewall. I had it cut about 90% through and went to hit it out with a screw driver and slipped and my finger hit right where I had been drilling. It was extremely hot and it burned me instantly. I was killing the clutch on the drill so I wanted to hammer my way through the last bit. It worked after I burned myself. The cut on my thumb was from feeding the wire up the slope to the back seats. The wire had to go between the bottom of the seat hooks and the frame in order for the seats to go back on. While doing this, I sliced my thumb open on a razor sharp edge I didn't notice. The shard going to the bone happened when I put the grommet into the hole. There was a long shard that I couldn't see from above and it went right to the bone. I super glued everything shut and that kept them from bleeding too bad. I did get blood all over my clothes though. The thumb slice was a gusher.

I literally spent 2 days trying to track down alt whine after I had was wrapping up a weekend long 3-way active install. Narrowed it to my sub amp but for the life of me, couldn't figure out wtf was going on.

Then when I was checking resistance on the RCA inputs, I realized that I had the RCA's in the "preout" of the amp, and not the "input". Dumb ***.
