3-way comp w/ midrange speaker vs 3-way w/ midrange horn

the horns will play the highs fine. running 2 nx30 tweets won't make them play any frequency higher just louder.

Where are you located. I am going to be starting to put in the system in my truck next week with the ID CD1E Mini horns and th CX62 on a q450.4. I also have a couple dealers in the state that have done hte horns as of late. I will try to arrange a demo for you if you would like that way you are not trying to listen to them on line so to speak.

do you even know what midrange means? lol.. or for that matter do you even understand the concept of 3-way?. its not called 3-way because you're connecting 3 "things" to the x-over. its called 3-way because you are trying to tune 3 diff freq. ranges. low/mid, mid, and high. not high, higher, and supersonic high.

Three way really means three sets of crossovers. So yes, technically you would be connecting three sets of speakers to some sort of crossover.

The OPs title is kind of confusing, but he wants to know whether he should do a 3-way front with a typical cone midrange, or a horn. Really though a true horn isn't going to cover the entire midrange. My guess is most will only play from ~1kHz on upwards, to somewhere around 18kHz. If you want to do horns, you either better have plenty of power on tap for your midbass, or be using some type of PA driver to keep up with the high efficiency of horns.

in florida we only care about how many tweeters and subs you can fit in the car, nothing else matters, and oh yeah how many marine 6x9's will fit in the grill
