Hey guys,

Might be the wrong place to post this but I'm looking for some replacement 3" drivers for my computer speakers. Anyone know of any online vendors that would sell a driver this size?

Any recommendations for a speaker this size? I don't want to spend too much but for the time being I'll just say there is unlimited budget so I can see what is out there.

Thanks for any help,

Michael

Yup. I've looked at partsexpress, madisound, and wooferetc. partsexpress goes down to 4", but I havent found anything smaller.

I've been doing all my searching in a hurry so maybe I'll just do it when I got a proper amount of time. thanks

You have to look in the full range section...

Don't know what your budget is, but the tang Band W3-871 is a great driver which I recommend...

Also, Zapp's favorite single driver is the Hi-vi B3S

You either want an 871 or B3. It's personal preference, honestly. The 871 is a bit more detailed, but the B3 isn't as harsh. I own both, and both are being used currently. Best speakers for the money on the market.

Perfect description of both...I own a few 3 inch full range drivers and the 871s are definitely the most detailed...that huge magnet is a pain though, especially for car audio installations...

Just sit there and listen to Joshua Redman in front of my class building instead of going inside and doing math //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

If I had you close your eyes when sitting before a pair and had you listen, you'd swear they'd cost in the hundreds if not 1k+ range. They are actually that smooth and detailed. I prefer the B3S myself as it lends itself to more types of music and it has a bit better bass extension, but I kid you not: they are both astounding.

No I was just teasing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I WAS going to use them, but the huge magnet was so obtrusive that going with an A-pillar install was next to impossible without a huge protrusion...

Instead I am going with a very similar driver, the Aura NS3-194-8E. Its not as well known, I snatched them for 10 bucks a piece when madisound was liquidating them:

They are pretty similar drivers sound wise. They are not as detailed up top and they can be a bit harsh like the 871s. Not to surprising, as they were designed by Ben Tang (Tang Band, get it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif )...

Off to finish the A-pillars, should have music by tonight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Eventually I will swap them out for something even better, ALA Fostex FF85K or the Dayton RS-100...

Good price on the aura, of course its out of stock //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
