3-4k????

K so i am looking at running a 3-4k watt amp. I have the original alt(105A). I want to get two big batteries in the back as aposed to an alt. I may be switching cars soon so i dont want to invest in an alt when i might only use it for 3 months. You think two Big batts in the back with a Yellowtop i the front would power it ok?

if the amp is a true 3 - 4 kw amp, then you will kill all of the batteries. This assuming you will be like the rest of us and listen to it at high levels all the time

you should be fine with the Yellow Top up front and 2 BIG batts in the rear

you'll definately be putting a bit of a strain on the alt but its all good.

what amp(s) are you planning on running?

I used my soundstream 6500 in my jeep with a smaller alt, replacement batt up front and 2 kinetik 2400's and it was fine, It also wasnt cranked to 11 all the time

Ok, well i am looking at a Sundown SAZ3000 or Memphis Mojo 4K or ...(not sure).

Most of the time I dont think alternators upgrades are necessary until you reach a certain limit. So since your wanting to run so much power I gotta say get a new alternator, the two big batterys are needed, but want last long with the amp pulling so much juice. My advice wait until you get the new car, then drop the alternator in. But f*CK i could be wrong, try it and see how far you get with it.

Ok, I think i might just run an AQ2200 for a while (its on two HDC10's) i wanted more power for competition but ill wait till i get a different car. That way i can just swap out the batts, sell the amp, and buy a memphis 4k or something similar. Thanks for the advise,

I didnt think so either, just was hoping it would. Im gonna go with the 2200 for now and sell it in a while.

If you are careful it will work. I ran 2 Mojo's in my Crx on stock alternator/battery under the hood and 2 batts in the rear. Never had a amp problem even BassBoxing
