3 10's > 2 15's??

so i have had 3 jl w3v3 10's in a 4.3 cube box tuned to 36 and i wanted more so i bought 2 AQ sdc 15's

and i have them in a ported not quite sure on the specs i think tuned around 34hz i think at 7.5 cubes after displacement

they have noth been hooked up to a mb quart dsc 1500.

the jl's are louder to the ear and move almost as air

my ears actually sting after beatin for a while

should i sell the 15's and stick with the 10's or maybe work on a new box since its tuned lower than what aq recomends

by the way jl's are at 1.3 ohm

and AQ 1 ohm

thats a little small for the 15s if you got the right box they WILL be louder

The AQ's should definitely be louder. 2 15's have a good 80% cone area advantage over 3 10's, not to mention I'd expect the AQ's to be more sensitive as well. Something doesn't seem right here...what vehicle is this in? How is it set up?

i was thinking 7.5 wasnt that small really either i know the 4.3 is a little big for the 10's

and its in a trail blazer both are subs up port back

its kinda mind boggling lol

ill try to do a sketch up of the boxes tomorrow for a little more help

oh definitly is. he is obviously talking about spl and he has 3 10s in 4 cubes or so that is much more of a high output box then 7.5 for 2 15s

so comparing these two boxs the 15s have a disadvantage.

but yes you are right 15s can preform in that space.

sounds like a port problem on the 15s ' to me

Double check your wiring on the subs.

ok so all the wiring is done right just double checked

the box for the jl's is 45" wide 17"deep 15"high and the port is on the side 4.5"wide and 11.5"deep

the AQ's are 44"wide 18"deep 25"high and the port is 4.5"wide and 12.75" deep with the port going in the middle

both boxes are double baffled at the top and its all 3/4 inch mdf

For the JL box I got 4.98ft^3 before displacements, and ended up with ~4.3ft^3 tuned to ~42hz. This is with a 12.75" x 4.5" port that's 11.5" deep.

For the AQ box I got 9.23ft^3 before displacements, and ended up with ~8ft^3 tuned to ~38hz. This is with a 22.75" x 4.5" port that's 12.75" deep.

so pretty much i have sq woofers in a fart box

i guess ill be going back to the shop that built the box and complaining
