2x jl audio 1000/1 v1 and only 1x bass knob

Greetings all, I was hoping you all could offer some advice. I have 2 Jl Audio 1000/1 v1 amps and only one bass knob. Can I use it to control both amps? Would I use a splitter or just setup the amps in some kind of master / slave mode? Or do I have to run 2 separate knobs?
