blaugh!!!!
Well... this was a change from my past setup which was an 18" HDC3 off of a 3000W amp in a 5.2cu. ft box....

I just put in 2 custom made 15's I got from a member on the steavemeadeforum.

box is 7.8cu. ft. after displ. 2x6" Aero's (14sq.in port/cube) total of 108sq.in of port I believe. They are powered by my MX3000.1 @1 ohm with 1/2 gain. They are made for ABOUT 1000-1200W I'd say... It is tuned to 32Hz.

I am getting some decent flexing, but it's not quite what I expected, and I made sure I wouldnt get my hopes up so I wouldnt be disappointed but..... It just doesnt have the POP that the HDC had.

The strange part is i'd say around 38-40Hz, it hits a little harder than the HDC, but when it hits low, the subs max out quickly as far as volume, but they don't appear to be reaching max excursion...??? That part I am a little confused on.

I used the 50hz test tone to set the gain...I set the radio's max @30/35 volume on the 50hz tone...but on the 30hz tone, it maxes out @only 25. Again it's got some OK flexing, but its really not that loud. I'd guess it peaking around 35hz from Lil Jon song Throw It Up... hits the lowest note the hardest (at least its the only one that makes my ear tickle).

I hope I didnt wire one of them out of phase...any easy way to tell before I pull them out. I had to wire in series/parallel. Was kinda of confusing since it was my first time wiring like that, but it tested @1ohm so I at least know I got that right.

Gotta say, don't think this is gonna satisfy me for long.... for what the HDC was... close enough to as loud for 1 sub...i liked the sound of it better

If you see anything wrong with the way the gains are set, please let me know.

P.S.... and im still KIND OF having voltage issues

You sure the tuning is 32hz? 2 6" aeros isnt the 100+in^ of port you think it is. As said its not even 60in^. If you found your port length going on 100in^ of port, your box is going to be tuned wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lower than you think.

If I had BBP on this comp, I would check. I think the problem is your tuning is way off from what you think.

You need more port.

right.... you only need 1/2 when using aero's... true calculation was 109 (7.8x14)

pretty sure 2x 6" aeros is typical for a lot of daily's for 2x 15's

each 6" aero is 54cu. in.

3x3^3=27

27x2=54

54x2=108

aero's are more efficient, hence why you only need 1/2....

i've done 4 other boxes the same way....

but just think about it... generally speaking.. if you see 2x15's with aeros, you will typically see 2x 6"

Just because the port is round doesnt mean that 2x the air moves through it. The port has the same cross sectional area. Your 6" PVC ports will move the same amount of air as a square port that is 5.31x5.31.

You dont understand how port area works. Ive had boxes for 15s with flared ports. Each 15 had 2 6" ports. You need more port area.

i have had 4 other boxes with them that worked just fine..

I had an 18"HDC3 in a 5.5cu. ft box with an 8" sonotube

5.5x16=88

3.14x16(radius squared)=48 (just about half)

and that box worked GREAT!

An 8" port is 50in^ of port and for a 5.5cuft box, thats right at the bottom end of port area. That probably was fine. But 2 6" ports for a 7.8 cube box isnt.

FOR ****S SAKE A ROUND PORT DOESNT COUNT AS DOUBLE.

A black speaker puts out twice the sound as a gray speaker! A square amp puts out twice the power of a rectangular amp! A battery with side posts has double the reserve of a battery with top posts!

Thats all pretty ridiculous, isnt it? Why should a round port count for double?
