2nd batt question

After running the positive from the car battery to the second, would it smarter to use the negative off the main battery and run that to the second, or just hook the negative to the ground in the back to my second battery...in short...

should i waste my wiring for a sure fire ground?

Note- I will be doing the big 3, this is all with 0 gauge

the best bet is to run a + and - from the front to the rear... but it's up to you, and if you have the room to run the wire...

i was going to do that but im running 1/0 (too sec batt/sub amp) & 4ga(mids/highs amp) back from my front batt in an acura integra.... so i just grounded my batt in the rear...

i will be running that 0 gauge to my sub amp as well, and i want to use the battery JUST for my sub amp, so i think i will use the ground i have now and save myself the wiring

ok, lets get things toally clear on my wiring, for my sake

run the + from the current battery to my second battery in back with 0 gauge, i will use a distro. block before the battery, from there run my 4 gauge to my comp. amp, and 0 gauge to my battery

then run both my grounds from the chassis, 4 gauge to the comp. amp and 0 gauge to the battery

then both + and - from the battery to the sub amp

am i correct?

do you have them wired in parallel w/o an isolator? if so it's not just for the sub amp, as both batteries are hooked together as one.
yea that's how i have it..

what i did is ran a dedicated 4ga from my front batt to the comp amp.. only 400watt amp... then the dedicated 1/0 to the batt..... kinda over kill but that's what i like..

the distro is not needed, as you can use the second battery's posts as a distro. and you will be running everything off both batteries together, rather than a front for whatever and rear for your sub amp.

just run the 1/0 from front + to the rear +, and ground both - to the chassis. then from the rear battery to the amps, with whatever AWG you need for them.

could have just gone from the rear battery to the amp, as they are connected anyways... would have saved some wire

but i dont want to be taking away any juice from that back batt and pushing it to the comp. amp. see what i'm saying?

i guess like seth said i'm trying to isolate the back battery just for my sub amp, so i'm running my comp. amp entirely off my front battery

but if your front battery is wired in parallel with the rear battery, they act as one big battery. see what i'm saying?

seth's rear battery isn't isolated from the front battery so he isn't just running his sub amp off the rear battery. he has his whole car running off of BOTH batteries at once, as do i.

tell me if you understand...

i get free wire any size any kind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you wont isolate it unless you run a batt isolater...... wire it like i said... what you are trying to do is have a deticated sub amp batt.... witch wont happen if you run a power wire from the front to the rear w/out isolateing the wire from the front.. basicly right now i have one big batt with a lil more reserve...
