the type rs are just better subs...sound better, get louder....type-s's arent bad at all. i have some, and for 65 bucks a piece it doesnt get much better...

Different T/S Parameters, and a 100 watt RMS difference in power rating. Fairly similar.

The Type R's can be found for under $100USD...you'll find them for around $150-$200CAD.

If your budget wont allow for a Type R, or two...stock up on Type S's

type r- better low end, takes more power, will get louder, bigger Xmax. I'm seeing the type r being able to have a smaller box also...

I would take an Imagine Dynamic over the alpines

The Type R does awesome in a small enclosure ported. I have one of the loudest systems in town with just one 12 Alpine Type R. Its only in a 1.33 internal Cu Ft box tuned to 33 Hz and it slams. Type R's are comparable to JL 12W3v2's while type S's are just a little lower. I heard Type S's were more for SPL than SQ but I'm not sure if that has any truth to them. I've never heard the Type S's but the Type R's are awesome.

A lot of the racers around here bought them after vin had them in FnF.

I personaly think the R beats out the S in both rings, but neither are very expensive
