I believe its an exponential scale. A 3 dB increase is equal to being twice as loud.

So your telling me that me going from 137.1 to 140.1 this past saturday i grew to twice as loud? I mean i hit 137.1 in the qualifying... went to the semis and posted a 140.1. So in essence i went grew twice as loud? lol.

There was a dude that hit 130... my friends hits 151.5 so basically he's 400times as loud as him?

It is TECHNICALLY twice as loud.

And do some math: 151.5-130=21.5, 21.5x2=64.5 times as loud. But it doesn't exactly work that way.
