2013 Accord EX-L Build Advice (First Car Audio Project)

Hi Everyone!

I've been doing a lot of research recently for my 2013 Accord EX-L V6. I've got the ANC unplugged already, but everything else is stock, including the HU. I don't have any experience with car audio, so this will be my first adventure. I'm fairly technical and handy so I'm hoping if I take my time I can make my first system a success, even if it is complicated.

Does the following build make sense?

$207.99 - Polk Audio AA6514-A MM6501 6.5-Inch System Speaker System

$ 99.99 - Polk Audio db651s - 6-1/2" 2-way shallow-mount car speakers

$233.99 - JL Audio 10W3v3-2 - W3v3 Series 10" 2-ohm subwoofer

$ 59.99 - Sound Ordnance™ Bass Bunker - Sealed single 10" subwoofer enclosure (Model BB10-64S)

$319.99 - AudioControl DQ-61 - Factory sound processor with equalization and time delay (Black)

$224.99 - NVX JAD900.5 800W RMS Full Range Class D 5-Channel Car Amplifier

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1146.94 - Subtotal (no wires, connectors, etc)

The sub enclosure is sort of a placeholder until I find the exact one I want. They mostly seem to be around $60. I found the NVX Amp from THIS build on the DriveAccord forum and couldn't find anything close to that amp for the price-range. Is this a special deal or am I reading the Crutchfield 5-channel amp list incorrectly?

Are there any incremental changes you might recommend to become more familiar with car audio? For example, maybe just do the Front Speakers, then if that goes well, do the rest?

Thanks for your feedback. I'm looking into the miniDSP now. It seems like everything of the DQ-61, except the miniDSP is configured via a PC (preferable for me) and supports 5 channels instead of 3.

Would love to hear your other suggestions!

The mini dsp does more than the audiocontol piece and it does it better, it's actually 8 channels versus 6. Other suggestions I would have is ditch the rear speakers or just use the fadder with the stock ones and fade them in when you have passengers in the back. The nvx amp is decent quality use two channels on it for tweeters, two for mids and the sub channel for sub. I would buy raw drivers instead of a component set to get more performance for your dollar. Something like https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/sb-acoustics-woofers-6-7/sb-acoustics-sb17nrxc35-4-6.5-woofer/ for the door and Xtant 1 1" Soft Dome Tweeters Pair Macrom New | eBay for tweeters. If you can fit larger tweeters there are other options in what I'm assuming your budget is that may perform slightly better such as NVX XSPTW 29mm X-Series Soft Dome Tweeters - Sonic Electronix or Tymphany NE25VTS-04 1" Silk Dome Tweeter . Cross the speakers over actively with the mini dsp. That sub is probably fine but I'm certain you could find something better in the price range no matter your goal. You might want to check out diyma.com if you haven't already.
