I have a 2006 Honda Civic in which I just installed an Eclipse AVN52D. I want to bypass the the parking brake mainly because ipod control from the HU is disabled when you are in drive (wtf). Do I just have to ground the parking brake lead from the HU or is it more complicated than that? I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I did a little more research and just grounded the parking brake wire from the HU. Sure enough, everything works perfect now. No need for a switch. Thanks for the input.

just know that what you did is illegal and if you were to get into an accident that hurts someone you would get in ALOT OF TROUBLE
unless someone said "oh he hit me becuase he was watching a movie while driving" theres no law against what he did. the law is you cant have video playing in the front seat of a vehicle...

wish i would of seen this earlier. eclipse units are that simple, ground and ur good. the alpine and pioneer require a bypass.

Actually what I did is not illegal, like SRim23 said, the action of watching videos while driving is what's illegal not the act of the parking brake bypass.

I couldn't believe how easy the bypass was either. Took a whole 10 mins to complete it. I still think that it was pretty rediculous of eclipse to make most ipod control features unavailable while driving. Who else does that? Give me break.

First of all, wow man, are you like a mom or something or did you not read the last posts by SRim and myself? I think you need to read up on thelaw before coming on here and posting stuff that is just an opinion and nothing more. Second of all, what took me 10 mins was pulling my dash/console apart not just the actual wiring of the bypass. Obviously someone has too much time on their hands so they decide to post useless crap and just act like they have supreme knowledge. And I was just starting to think that this forum was different than others I have come across.
