Frame is best to ground to

I'm upgrading my system but up till now I've have used the big bolts that the back seat bolts down with and has worked ok

I may change this and go to frame tho. And try to stay under 3 foot with your ground wire

I have a 05 1500 hd gmc

I don't use seat bolt grounds, you don't want to introduce rust into safety points.

just drill a new hole on the floor close to the amps. sand away paint, bolt, and use silicone on the underside.
