Can you mod these things and make them fast, like 0-60 about 6 sec or less?

If so approx how much money would it take?

Oh, and does anyone happen to knwo the stock 0-60 time for a 03 Durango?

I know they wernt made to be fast, so most of this info is hard to find, but I want a vehicle that is fast, as well as have a bunch of room for a system, and a Durango is perfect, for size, and I love the looks of them, and they already have a V8 engine with 5.9 l dispacment, so the engine is already good, but id want sumthin fast too.

That engine is no good. It is a dog my dad owns an 02 and my 95 burban puts it to waste. Plus they get horrible gas mileage just like all dodges ive ever driven.

It all depends on what you want, but the newer chevy tahoes with the 5.3 have some good base hp numbers and can be modded to get even more power. If you want any more info on Chevy performance go to Fullsizechevy.com

its an suv, not a power house, if it was like a tahoe and had a 350, or a new durango and had a hemi or .etc it would be alot easier

as it stands your only chances for big gains are forced induction, imo those engines were pieces

Trust me the 5.9 is a total piece. My brothers stock 5.3 beat a dakota ss with a 5.9 so I know they are not all they are susposed to be.

5.9L mopar engines don't make that much horsepower. Only like 245 stock compared to Chevy's 5.3 which is more. Durango's are heavy and hard to make extremely fast. They were not designed for speed. I've seen 2 Durangos that had the 5.9L engines swapped out for a larger 408ci engine I believe Carol Shelby actually worked with Dodge a few years back and designed the Durango SP 360. It came from the factory with a supercharger, body kit, ram air hood, dual exhaust, racing seats, etc.

0-60 is about 8.0 seconds which isn't fast but not that slow either. Instead of making it fast, why not either do a sick system or maybe some air ride suspension or something?

He is looking for an Suv to buy and he thought the Durango would be a good choice, If i wanted lots of room for a System and have it be decently fast I would have to go with a chevy Sub or tahoe and remove the 3rd row and do some sort of boost or engine swap. That would be expensive but having room for a system and moving fast is going to be expensive in an suv.

yea, I want a fast vehicle and room for a system. But now Iv made up my mind that im going to get an Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Stock 0-60 6.5 sec. Easily and cheaply modded. And I am going to take out the back seat and fiberglass a freakin awesome system in it. Check out the Vehicle Differences thread in The Lounge for more info.

TSi = //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif I don't like them..... but its your money
What are you talkin about!?!?!? DSMs are awsome, most reliable engine ever made.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif You want something fast...but yet with a heavy *** system in it? Your gonna spend twice as much tryin to make it fast with a system in it. Pick something and stay with it...System VS Speed.
