6.5 for a 100k mile VW gti with one of the worst engines to ever be put in a GTi? lmfao look somewhere else.

Exactly what I'd be thinking.
Unless you recently got a job that'd be requiring you to commute a lot farther, and up your fuel costs significantly...getting a new car because you're "tired" of the one you have is not going to make a lot of financial sense.

yea, i drive around 85miles round trip for work. i average between 19-20 mpg depending on how much of that driving is highway (usually 95%). so its not like the gas cost it kills me, and ive been used to it for a while now.

i do have to admit, its not only because im tired of it, its also the fact that 200k+ just seems like a lot and a lot of it has to do with the unknown of what could happen to the car with that many miles on it. it could go 300k, or it could die next week. you cant just guess these things know what i mean?

but what good would i be doing in replacing my explorer with a vehicle that has what seems like very questionable reliability.

It's a vDub reliability is hit or miss.

For example, my 98 Passat 1.8T has been virtually trouble free. After 5+ years of ownership and 62k of my own miles (has 115K on it now), I've spent maybe about 500 bucks on "repairs" everything else moneywise put into it was regular expected maintenance, and mods too.

Though on the other hand, my friend had an 01 Passat 1.8T and after 60k miles he had to replace the motor, due to sludge.

I love the VR6 motor in the the MK4 Golf/GTI/Jetta, I wish it was available in the B5 Passat. IMO it is more reliable than the 1.8T, but again it's a vDub so unfortunately shit happens.
