2001 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0's trunk

sucks. No I don't know..

Ok, so i listen to metal music mainly. I installed a 10" infinity BASSLINK in the trunk, to save space and still give me a little bump. Everything installed ok, but here's my problem. When the trunk is open or cracked, there is a huuuge difference in bass sound inside the car. It's alot louder while it's open, and I don't know what to do about it. When it's shut, the bass inside the car cuts down about 50% in bass response!! The little passageway square ( maybe 6" by 6") is open so I can see the trunk also to help just a little, but not much and the seats dont fold down completely.

The guy at Best Buy that installed it said he's never heard anything like that in the 2 years he's been installing. What should I do?? When it's open it sounds the way it should... but i can't drive around with the trunk open!

Drill holes in the trunk to port airflow?! lol..

any suggestions would help me out big time. Thank you!

face it towards the rear or fire it into one of the rear corners if its not already. if not get a real sub/box and an amp.

I've tried positioning it mulitiple ways, have tinkered with all the setting etc.. everything but drilling holes into the trunk. For the music I listen to, this setup is perfect. While the trunk is cracked it sounds perfect. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I had it in my Buick Park Avenue, yea.

I've got crappy subs (well, HAD crappy subs, I sold them to make money, so no bump anymore), but I used to slide them as far back as I could to save space, then I realized they weren't as loud as they had been prior to doing that, I popped the trunk and good lord it got almost twice as loud.

Ok, so I slide them out to right near the rear of the trunk and sure enough that did it, was just as loud with the trunk closed as open.

I guess it's something to do with cancellation or something, and with the subs right up by the hatch it doesn't bounce back and get tangled up with the waves going toward the trunk.

I roll like this:

And if I slide them a foot or so back it gets muffled and such.

And yes, I know those are terrible subs and my trunk's messy, and my door jambs aren't painted yet in that picture (they are now, though).

The reason for your sound being muffled is because of the ports .. they are on top which is being blocked ... but if the openings were facing the trunk then it would be different

probably relocation...to keep stock dings and crap...just like in my impala..but i paid the extra 125 so i didnt have to do that.
