Whats up guys,

I am new to Car Audio's site and i just wanted to post my install on my 01 silverado. i completed swapping everything over to the 03-06 Dash to get my double din to fit and I am posting this video for feedback and to help anyone else out who wants to do the same thing. let me know what you think. search silverado double din conversion on youtube my channel name is Superchevyman70. thanks for checking it out!

Sorry about that new to the forum stuff.... I took video and posted to youtube on the conversion figured it was easier to watch and explain that way. i will get some still shots together using a video editor and post this afternoon on the thread.

alright so here are the pics of the conversion

Removed old 99-02 Radio and AC Cage

had to do a little trim work on the cage to get it to sit flush in the dash

swapped radio cages

cut all four pegs of my original AC control to move it down about a 1/2 inch

had to make a 1/2 inch spacer to get the AC controlers to sit flush i was going to use a piece of tubing but found that a small piece of wood or mdf works perfect just cut to shape

AC controls mounted in with spacers

double din installed its a little tight in the back probably going to do some more work with a file to get it to sit back a little further in the cage

All done everything fits good and for the ashtray i actually ended up just marking it were it was to tall for it to open because of the new dash and cut about a 1/4 inch of the top of the ashtray so its still functional and it looks a whole lot better than notching the bottom of the dash bezel and losing the stock look.

its nice i only had it in for a couple weeks on my old set up before i took everything out I am just worried about the EQ I didn't get to mess with it to much so i am debating on running a separate EQ but other than that great look and has a ton of features the only thing i don't really like is the volume control is kind of small.

hoping to start in a couple weeks got everything i need together and my truck is almost done with paint i would of had it back last week but when my brother in law was painting the doors a breaker overloaded on the fan to his paint booth and melted the motor down so were waiting for it to get warrantied. Also doesn't help he likes to fish more than work so I have learned not to do business with family anymore....

well if i can help in any way ,just let me know.mine is back in the shop to. the day i left on my vacation the ****** dump all 9 quarts of fluid on the ground 12 miles from home. good thing for warranties.

so i started my first attempt at door pods today and it seems to be going ok so far. just need to figure out were i am going to put the tweets i wanted to fit them in the pod but i did not have enough room to work with and i wanted to keep it as clean and smooth as possible. i have not finished the back yet this is more of a test to see were i can improve and i need to measure the gap between the door panel and door i would like to have them sit all the way in the door and attach to that instead of attaching to the door panel. tomorrow is a whole lot sanding and bondo let me know what you think thanks.
