2001 Acura 3.2 TL Help

So I am pretty unexperienced in car audio and just decided to upgrade my factory bose system. As I said the car comes with the factory bose system that has 2 6-1/2" front speakers and 2 6-1/2" rear speakers and apparently an 8" sub behind the back seats. I had planned to originally buy a new head unit and 4 speakers for now (price range=around $500....speakers $150 per pair and $200 hu) but was wondering the route I should go with getting my system put together. Should I just get a priceyer hu and maybe an amp instead...(are bose speakers decent enough to be bought after amp/sub?) Basically just trying to get info about the order some of you prefer. Any help appreciated!! Thanks

Most noticeable improvement: 4 new 6 1/2s first. But if you're doing everything, then order shouldn't matter. Personally I'd grab a nice Alpine HU. If you really want good sound, grab components, (you can get some very ear pleasing ones at 150 a pair.) but being as you said your unexperienced, having a professional do the install will probably add at least 150 to the bill. My suggestion is dish out a little more and get 2 sets of Infinity Perfect 6.1's. You can find them for 200 a pair. You'll def have to amp them. Someone else suggest an amp please. I don't really know your budget. One thing you need to keep in mind is unforeseen costs. Examples, wiring for an amp ($30-100), speaker wire ($25), signal cables ($15-40 per pair), Ipod cable (~$35), installs (free if you have someone help you up to around $200), and also maybe a wiring harness in case your car's door chimes, and alarm programming is part of your factory HU ($100). Yeah, there's a lot of little stuff you overlook at first that really take a bite out of your wallet. Hope this helped a little.

Yeah thank you very much!! I had a few more experienced friends that can assist but thanks for the heads up on extra costs...with everything im planning on spending around $1,000-$1,100 but can only afford around $500 at a time so thats why I was curious on the order. I wanted to get the hu and speakers together but because of the factory 8" sub I was maybe just going to get a better HU and maybe and amp and then get the speakers sub and box together...

If you have $1000-$1100 to spend on a system you can get a nice budget system for that. And $500 right now to spend is right on the mark for what you want. I'll suggest a nicer component set for the front and a set of nicer coaxils for the rear.

X 2 for the Alpine head unit.

As for the speakers I would go with the Polk MM series they are a great bang for the buck.

Also to answer your question about bose speakers they do not make great stuff at all. It is all hype from people and the market. I have a set of JBL speakers that would blow them out of the water.

http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=8235. Here's a 3rd option for a cd player also pioneer premier. It's got bluetooth and is ipod ready. It's a little more expensive. I've dealt with techronics.com before, I bought a set of speakers from them and got them within 2 days of placing my order with a 2 year warranty as well.
Thanks a lot for the help I will be looking for some stuff today...I wonder if I should wait till black friday?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
