2000LaDe's Demo/Bassrace Build 12 15" mojos

first off - amazing build. blows my mind how much wood + bracing it took for it.

I have box questions for you guys, -

do you feel like the nice ?birch? plywood is equal / better than the mdf ?

as some have told me that mdf is not going to steal any sound from the box.

but they state that plywood is more porus, and soaks up sound ?

that being said -

did you guys fully fiberglass coat the inside of this box ?

or paint it with some kind of bed liner type stuff - to try and prevent any sound absorbing ?

I have a box right now made of the nice 11 ply wood - but its bare wood inside right now.

do you think I could gain any from giving it a glass coating inside - ?

right now it is as you see completely bare tho it probably wont stay that way for long

And my question to you is, what more COULD it do?
The hair is going to stand straight up and thats about it, no matter how loud the vehicle is.

Tommy mckinnie's truck, gmonks van, etc. all do the same thing. Unless you were expecting it to blow their clothes off or something?
Well that would have been nice lol j/k. No I know standing up. .... I guess for the hair to move more violently. It doesn't look like it is moving much. But very well could be the camera

and actually in one of tommy's videos it starts to take off her shirt lol. And this vehicle is almost twice as loud as mckenny's
Not true at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Mckinnie always showed what he needed to win, not what he was fully capable of.

And if you really want to get technical about it, just because one vehicle is louder doesn't mean it will be better at certain things. Randy's van doesn't meter even close to hanks or mckinnie's truck, but I think his does the most violent hair trick.

Well the main reason hank used birch on this build was to save weight. By using birch instead of MDF he saved a couple hundred pounds of weight.

However, most likely you will gain a little bit by sealing the inside of the enclosure. Will it be noticeable by ear? Probably not, but most of the time it's good for a few tenths on the meter.

one thing to take into context, yeah meters are great and all, but all its doing is metering pressure at a certain point. legal on the dash of course.

just by that simple factor alone it should be pretty clear that different designs are going to function differently into where the pressure forms.

in that case, it may not meter even close to as well as another but it can still exude the same features otherwise, or even more.

Perhaps. And I didn't mean to take anything away from the build by saying I was disappointed in the hair trick. Just still the bottom of the hair is still resting on the shirt. this thing is a monster. But there again I suppose my walls looses a LOT of pressure with both doors open... ::shrugs::. Either way that thing is stupid loud. Standing behind it with one door open back by the podium you can still FEEL it STRONG. I didn't pay attention but I bet it moves your clothes even behind it.

I would have to agree with Tommy on this one.

ok it was some what the cam i was sitting in the drivers seat filming it. second off the volume was only half way up on the subs because of trying to keep some batteries left for the show. third both doors were open.

In person the hair trick was ok but not the best i have seen

couple pix from the show. the last pic shows how eric was tryin to bassrace after his 12v constant went out up front in his van. so he couldnt even really see the screen to start thats why he started early.

but it was a pretty nippy show

MMM Hot chocolate!
