2000 Galant install

I'm helping a friend upgrade his stereo in his 2000 Galant. I'm going to be doing the work, and I was wondering which is the best install kit for the HU. I dont want to buy something that looks like ***, like the HU sticking out a couple inches past the dash.

Any suggestions?

DUDE post how u run the wires in that car PLEASE. i have an 02 galant and am gonna start installing probably within the month.

It's a single DIN-ISO. You don't need a mounting kit. Just take the brackets off the old head unit and attach them to the new one.

and running wires... just take off the side panels and pull up the carpet... take out the rear seat... and any other panel that gets in the way...

yeah no dash kit. metra 70-7001 wire harness for that model. funny thing is i just had a guy ask for one too.

Once you get the interior tore down, it will make perfect sense where to run the wires through the interior to the trunk. As far as coming through the firewall I chose to drill near the steering column(making sure there was no chance for obstruction). There are nice places along the sides to route the cable all the way to the trunk. I did an 00 galant wire run not too long ago. It really is relatively easy and obvious once you get into it.
