I am helping a friend install a pioneer sub in his explorer I know how to do everything else but install the hi lo converter because he did not buy a HU. I am pretty sure I wire it to the facotry amp in the rear of the car but im not sure where to install it. It was hi low converter with 5 wires on one end and the rca plugs on the other. What I need to know is how to hook it up and where to put the wires im pretty sure theres two positive and two negative and one ground which doesnt need to be used let me know if you need more info let me know thanks

if he is gunna do a lo line wit his factory h/u he is gunna have to pic up the signal before the amp. ( usually found at the amp itself on fords) if you pick up a amplified signal it's no goood.

best bet is a aftermarket deck.

just get a deck and put in a system like and 150+ legal will be a piece of cake

yea I know but the deal is he bout a pioneer sub and box wiring and an mtx 300 watt amp for 90 bucks witch was a great deal he doesnt need a new hu just a little thump...

Dunno if this is any help, but I have a Lincoln Aviator, similar to the explorers in some respects. If you're already back there why don't you just forget about the converter and splice into the lowlevel inputs right before they hit the stock amp, instead of getting them right after the amp?
