2000 BMW 528i headunit install

I have a 2000 528i. I am itching to replace the cassette deck, with an aftermarket CD that supports Ipod, and other features. I want to know if there is a Kit that will allow me to keep the stock woodgrain cover that closes over the Cassette/Cd deck. I have only seen 1 dash kit, for this car. Any help would be appreciated

Beamer's have odd shaped head unit slots. Very short but very wide with weird stuff. My question is... it's a 2000 car, and a BMW at that. No CD player wtf? My 98 Honda had a factory CD player.

I'll see if I can't find the install kit you're looking for though.

It looks like it matches the factory contours of the dash and radio panels and allows for a standard single DIN radio install.

Do you already have the headunit already or not? That install kit alone is 20 bucks but if you buy the headunit FROM crutchfield, they throw it in for free as well as all the wiring harnesses, adapters and even detailed instructions. You could probably find the actual head unit slightly cheaper somewhere else, but with all the free stuff they throw in, it's a pretty good deal. Not trying to promote crutchfield, it's just that they're very user friendly for first time installs.

When I put an aftermarket single din pioneer hu, in my 01 525i, the woodgrain cover wouldnt close, unless i detached the faceplate from the hu.

it really is. bmw's are awesome for making their wood trim with like a metal backing, impossible to break, unlike hyundai's, acura's, etc. where you gotta pray to god when removing it.
