I wouldnt trust putting that much on a Type R. I can personally say that a L7 12 will take that power without a sweat.

I agree my brother has the a series1 L7 12" running off a bd1000 for some years now and has not blown it yet, that subs takes it like a champ. We sell alpine at my job and I love the new type R i have 1 10" in a custom downfiring box in my girls car , but honestly we have had a few come back blown due to over powering. But the Type R's are strong as hell though, a co-working did 2 12" type R on 2 alpine v12 600 mono's and didnt miss a beat and The Power Hx2 i know for a fact can take it like a champ and get loud doing it too, I did two of them in my boys 03 cobra, he found two new off E-bay and they worked perfect.

So, what do you folks think the best bang for the buck is? Something is still telling me to bite my lip and get the 12 inch SX... but if I can get something comparable for less, I want to do that.

I guess the Premier's are out of the picture now... Type R's are out... the Kickers I'm having a hard time justifying that one sub rated for like 650 RMS will take 1,100 RMS daily (to me that's NO upgrade to my current 600 RMS SE 15).
