20.1 daily?

will i be ok using this amp on a daily basis? i have been told that it likes to draw alot of curent and that its mainly used in competetions rather than for everyday driving. im woried about my electrical system, thats why im asking this question. will i be ok with a ho alternator and optima battery and big 3? are there anything else that i should consider before installing?

It depends on what load you are going to run it at. HO alt and Big 3 is a good idea if you can swing it regardless.

20.1 is a great amp. But its not known to be a great daily amp. The reason people have them is because they can drop down to such low impedances. So unless you are going to be running the amp lower than .5 ohms there really are better choices for a daily amp....but for an SPL comp amp (especially in Gay USACi with their 4 ohm rating system) its one of the best out there.

I dont see how it wouldn't be good for daily, people run it at .5 daily with no problems, surly 1 ohm should be more than fine as long as it has proper air circulation.

well....I mean on a good solid electrical system. It will do ~1800 @ 1 ohm. Its a tradeoff really, the 20.1 price is what sways it away from people only using it @ 1 ohm. for 700 or so dollars you can get a solid amp that will do more power. In the End its all up to you. The 20.1 is a great amp no doubt but its an expensive amp.

Yeah but ur forgetting there's like 10 on sale in classifieds right now going for as low as $500 shipped. I am thinking about picking one up, but have to make sure if it'll fit my needs first. (Plus my alt only puts out 80 amps >.

The reason they dont exactly make great daily amps is because they dont start making the massive power they are known for until they get down to .35-.08 ohms. and how many people are honestly (other than noah because I know he will chime in) going to run their amps under a .5 nominal load?

I ran mine on 100% stock electrical at .5.

unless your wanting to drop it down to .5 ohm or below you shouldnt really be buying this amp. for about half the price you can get 1800+ watts at 1 ohm from the us amps md2

ouch. i gots a 300amp alt an nsb100 will run mine. an that will be jus enough to keep it happy
