2 volt versues 7 volt preamp rca

I am having problems with a Cadence amp putting out power. After researching, amp requires 8 volt preamp. My deck has 2 volt pre amp outs. So if I add a cadence eq which its outputs are 7 volt preamps, will this solve my amplifier output power issue?

What amp is it ? Most amps accept 6-8v all the way down to .02v so i doubt thats ur problem

Eq or line driver would help...especially if you have long rcas...

It is a Cadence fxa 2400.4. I am at wits end with this amp. I read good comments about Cadence, so i decided to give this cheaper model a go. I cannot for the life of me adjust the gains to make it put out power. I replaced it with an old Kicker Kx 350.4 that I had laying around, that amplifier worked my system fine, 4 6.5 Cadence wired 2 ohm stereo , and one JL 10 wired mono 4ohm. The Cadence specs says 8 volt preamp inputs, so maybe I need that to get the rms power from amp.

This is first time I stray from my normal brand of car audio. I started with Yamaha HU, linear power amplifiers and Kicker subs back in late 80's. When I reached my second puberty aka mid life time, I went with Alpine HU , alpine 6.5, Kicker amps and subs. Next system I used Alpine HU, Kicker 6.5, tweeters, amps and subs. So most my experience is with Alpine and kicker. My new setup is Soundstream HU with 2 volt preamp outs, 4 6.5 Cadence 3 way, 1 JL audio 10(lower model 125 watt rms) and Cadence fxa 2400.4(which is in time out, so I am using Kicker 350.4)

It could have to do with crossovers not capable or set right ur trying to run a sub on a 4ch amp meant for mids and tweets

Meant for mids and tweets??? why does it have a low pass crossover?? It should pound the 125 rms sub even at half of its claimed rms(which is 300 rms mono at 4 ohm) Plus I am using a Kicker 350.4 , mono is 175 at 4 0hms. Sooooo according to specs the Cadence amp should be pounding the subwoofer.

low pass on a 4 channel is for midbass woofers in a 3 way setup, you can use it for a sub and it should work but its horribly ghetto lol. how high can you turn up the head unit? whats your head unit's settings? your low pass filter settings on both amp and head unit? whats the gain at?

Ghetto, really. I knew better than to try and get advice from here. Explain why a Kicker 350.4 can pound the jl 10 voice coil out the basket? According to Cadence specs and manuals, this amp can handle subwoofers. Serious low pass is for mid bass. What does "MID" stand for. OMG So I can crossover my midbass with a low pass filter to 80??? Dumb Azz

I'm having the same problem with my hifonics brutus brx 1600.1d amp. My pioneer receiver has 2.2v preamps output. My gain is set at it's lowest setting of 0.2v when I try and add gain to it to match my receiver the voltage drops I used a multimeter to text it. With my receiver turned 3 quarter up my voltage reading on my amp speaker leads were 8.1v (I need 37v to match receiver) when I try and turn up gain voltage start dropping instead. After reading your post I'm thinking my inputs may be 8v also that will explain why at 0.2v on amp sensitivity the amp gain can not be adjusted any higher. A preamp with 8v preouts may be what you need. I'll post back after more research.

I figured out my problem, 1. Stop messing with cheap amps 2. Stop messing with cheap amps and 3. Stop messing with cheap amps. I have a Cadence Flash fxa 2400.4 and a 1660.2 for sale real cheap .
