2 Pre Amp Question

I'm wanting to drive a 4 channel amp and a mono block sub amp off of my Pioneer DEH-P6700MP. It has 2 preamp outputs. How would I go about wiring it to best utilze the preamps? I've heard about using line levels but im skeptical of the quality. I've also heard of splitting one RCA to drive the 4 channel...What would be the best configuration?

connect both sets of preamp outputs to the 4channel amp and then use the preamp outputs of the 4chan amp and connect them to the mono amp.

if your 4channel amp doesn't have outputs. then

use the front outputs of the deck for your 4channel amp and set the rear outputs of the deck to subwoofer outputs, use them for your mono amp

Personally I would just run the HU's front preamp leads to your mid amp, and the rear preamp lead to your sub amp.

Here are my reasons for this;

1. Unless you are going for a true 5.1 surround setup (which music CD's are not programed for) your satalite speakers in the front and rear of your car output the exact same signal anyway (left front and left rear = same signal, right front and right rear = same signal).

2. Running the subwoofer off of the rear output from your head unit also gives you the option to use your fader to attenuate (turn down) either the highs or lows as the need arises.

If you set up this way, and feel that the output of your rear speakers (not sub) are too loud or throwing your sound stage off, you can get two 8ohm 25watt resistors and hook them between your mid amp and the rear speakers (on the positive lead, one to each speaker) and this will lower the ammount of power to them (25 watts) and lend more presence to your front components (by lowering effective volume of the rear components slightly).

Hope that helps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

Example1:

connect both sets of preamp outputs to the 4channel amp and then use the preamp outputs of the 4chan amp and connect them to the mono amp.

Example2:

use the front outputs of the deck for your 4channel amp and set the rear outputs of the deck to subwoofer outputs, use them for your mono amp. Your going to need to buy 2 RCA Y-Adapters. CHICK HERE
