OK i hooked up my cousins cheapy system, an older pioneer 2 channel with a few older single 4 ohm subs, he had each sub run it s own wire to the amp which i thought would be 2 ohm stereo. Then i ran the subs together in parallel and ran them to the amp as 1 channel, But now his fuse keeps blowing, i feel dumb for asking but is'nt it the same impedence? or should i just run each sub to the amp with 2 speaker wires instead of doing just one

if its a 2ch amp and each sub is 4ohm and they're not wired together then you're running the amp 4ohm stereo. wire the subs parallel and its 2ohm mono. make sure the amp is 2ohm mono stable which i doubt it is, most 2ch's are only 2ohm stereo or 4ohm mono stable.

Ok well i guess i ll just have to run it how it was with 2 wires.. I thought 2 svc 4 ohm would be 2 ohm stereo, but im tired and am only using about 5 brain cells now, thanks for kinda helping me figure it out:)

How the subs are wired doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the amp is outputting a stereo or a mono signal. Stereo is indicative of the amp outputting distinct left and right signals and mono means that it is outputting on a single channel. When you're talking about a multichannel amp being bridged you'll be outputting the signal from the left source output and but increasing the wattage (normally the desired result of bridging an amp)

How many subs are you attempting to run off of this 2ch amp? If you bridged the amp to a single channel and then hooked up more than one 4 Ohm driver then you dropped too low of a load on the amp (as the majority of amps are stable no lower than 4 Ohms when in bridged mono mode)

You mentioned a 'few older SVC 4 Ohm subs.' How many is a few?

Thanks for the replies.. I see what your talking about with the amp not being to handle a 2 ohm mono load, at the time i was thinking , the amp is 2 ohm stable.. period.. So I just wire the subs together in the box and into 1 channel that the amp would see. All im trying to to is help him get a little out of not much to start with in the first place;) , But as jmac said i could try series 8 ohm bridge, if that does nt work or seems like it has less output i'll just go back to 4 ohm stereo. Im assuming maybe 4 ohm stereo would be higher rms than 8 ohm bridge?? thanks again:)

all this bs for a pos 10 yr old pioneer amp and 2 10" blau subs... what a waste, when i told him i would build a box for his truck (2002 ext cab ranger) sell him my re sx12 and a memphis mc-1000d all for $500... o well i guess he'll just have to waste his time trying to get a pair of $40 subs loud
