2 Magnum 12s on a BP1200.1

I was thinking of getting 2 SI Mag12s and putting them on my BP1200.1 The amp puts out 1200w at 1 ohm and the Mags are Dual2 ohm so I can wire both for 1 ohm. The BP1200.1 has dual speaker outputs althought it is a mono amp, which I think is weird but it does. If I wired both subs for 1 ohm and put them each on a separate output then they would both be running at 1 ohm and each getting 600w right?

2 2ohm dvc speakers do not equal a 1 ohm load. a single magnum can handle that amp.

You dont understand what i'm saying...the bp1200.1 has 4 outputs...2+ and 2- If I wire 1 Magnum for 1 ohm it will take up 1+ and 1- and would would be at 1 ohm. Then if I took the other Magnum and wired it for 1 ohm, it would take up the other + and the other - on the amp. So then wouldnt the amp be pushing both at 1 ohm and 600w to each? But then again I could wire them for 2ohm since the amp puts out 1200 at 1 or 2 ohms.

If you wire each sub to 1 ohm, they are bridged internally to give a .5 ohm final load. You need dual 4 ohm subs to get a 1 ohm final load.

EDIT: You could however, wire both subs in series to 4 ohms and when connected it will provide a final load of 2 ohms....at which you'll get the same power and the amp will last longer (there are some problems running those amps at 1 ohm).

2 mags can be wired to a 2 ohm load, and get 1200 watts from the JBL. Itll work perfect. I dont know why or what u mean by doing seperate outputs, but there is no need...

You don't understand how an amp works. That amp is bridged internally. If you were to wire it like you said, it would read .5ohms and you risk your amp. That amp makes it's power @ 2 and/or 1ohm.

Hmm didnt think about the whole internal bridging thing, but yea that makes sense. I hoping 2 Mags will pound at 600w each.

Its cool, maybe if I had comps it would be better but I enjoyed my Magnum so I'm going back to that. I'm debating two Magnums. I could get a killer comp set for the XXX15 but 2 Mags would be sexy lol. But I would only run them at 600w each so I dunno how sexy that would be. I ran the single Mag at 1200w and it wanged lol

I've done a setup with two 15" Magnums off a BP1200.1 in a very large ported enclosure in a Dakota. It is quite impressive off a mere 600W per driver.

It was tuned to 25hz in an 11 cubic foot enclosure.
