2 ID8 vs 2 pioneer shallow10" vs 2 L5 8" vs 1 thin 13"

going in quad cab Mitsubishi Raider

listen to metal, rock, alternative rock

i prefer sound quality over sheer loudness, but i used to have two 12s so closest to that sound would be great.

One crutchfield person says go with the L5s, another says the pioneers are the best shallow 10s u can get and will put out more than the L5s.(90db same wattage, more cone area)

The last one, i described the ID8 to them, explaining that it has 3.4db more, and a nice 15mm xmax, he says it will sound better and at least be equal to(if not output) the power of the L5 even at half the wattage.

im sorry for being a noob, but does the 3db make the id8 a better choice even though its the least wattage and smallest sub of all of the above? not sure of the xmax of the L5, pioneers have a sad 5.5mm. power acoustik's 13 has 9mm xmax and its the biggest sub in the comparisons.

if there is anything better out there, please post it up, but it has to be below 5" mounting depth, and i only have a .4 cubic foot box(or in the case of the thin 13s, i could use whole back but only 1 sub)

IDs are good stuff, and can be had for cheap used. Actually there is a guy selling some on here right now if you search.

I might get flamed for this, but I've heard those JL shallow mounts are pretty good. That said, I have no idea what they cost.

id8's sound best? why, how? i know i dont know much but i wont know unless i ask, and people explain.

the L5s get loudest so why go with the id8's, they sound that much better, or they sound better but wont be far behind in loudness?

i know with 15mm xmax thats great, but with the L5 unkown xmax, twice the wattage, more cone area.

are the L5s the next best thing, or maybe the thin 13 with 9mm xmax and 350w rms?

The ID8's have good response. work in as little as .25 cubes. and nice xmax.

The kicker's will get louder. but not as nice.

im not a big fan of shallows.

in a s10 single cab one id8 with the box in my sig sounded GREAT. now im using .6 ported tuned to 35hz, louder but doesnt hit the lows as well. Soon im going to be running 2 id8s sealed in .9cu I'll let you know how that goes.

thats what everyone says, and thats great but they dont make them anymore. as soon as i see them on here they sell out.

also, if that is such a great sub why did they stop making them? im sure they are going to make a better 8, but then it will be huge or something and wont be able to fit anywhere.

I dont believe Jacob was ever happy with how they were made. Im not sure but they are amazing 8"s. L5's sound like trash, just like L7's. Older Re Re 8"s wouldnt be bad,
