2 ga. or 4 ga. wiring ?

hey guys, i'm not really sure what i should do here, im running 1000 watts rms, and i need new wire, should i go 4 ga. or 2 ga? and what is a legit company to buy wire from ?

I've been looking at 4 ga. kollosus, but im not sure its big enough let me know any reply is appreciated thanks !

 
honestly, depending on the amp you could sometimes get away with 8AWG, but you definitely will be fine with 4AWG.

the way you figure what wire size you will need it to figure the amperage draw of your amp and then find the wire that is rated just above what you will be drawing. To find out amperage draw, add up all of the fuses on your amp(s). For example, if your amp has two 30A fuses, then your amperage draw is 30x2=60 amps. Then you look at wire, and you know 8AWG is rated for 80 amps, so you can use 8AWG. then fuse your power wire for the rating of the wire, so 80A for 8AWG, 120A for 4AWG, 250A for 1/0, etc.

you also have to take distance into account, but that is pretty much the rule of thumb for a standard hood-to-trunk run

kollosus is some really nice wire... go for it
