2 and 4 ohm loads

if i wire the 2 ohms series to 4 ohm, and the 4 ohm parallel to 2 ohm, is it still possible, can I still do it?

or is there any way i can do it????

please help

thanks

This is all based on your amps.. I would say as long as you keep each type of speakers on one amp you should be ok.. So, the 2 2ohm dvc to 4 ohm each on an amp that has good power at 4 ohm.. then the 2 4 ohm dvcs to 2 ohm on a 2 ohm stable amp..

If you are talking about having all 4 on one amp, I think you will have to adjust the wring in ways that makes a consistent load for all 4 subs.. meaning you could have 1 2ohm to 4, and 1 4ohm to 2, put those together and you should have a 2 ohm load? but now you have mixed sub types and probabaly differing power handling (though, I doubt you would run one set louder than the other anyway).. Actaully, if you mix them like that, you are pretty much assured to have each pair getting the same power.. if you keep the 2s and 4s on seperate amps, you might have a bit harder time getting them all set up the same.. *shrug*

That's just my take on it.. Not sure if there is an issue mixing types/etc., but I'd guess that as long as you stay below the power handling of the weaker subs, you should be ok..

well the 4 ohm subs are 500 watts rms, the 2 ohms are 400 watt rms, so not to much difference,

ok say i wire a 2 and a 4 ohm sub together for a 2 ohm load, how do i wire them up together, like wire the 2 up series, and the 4 up in parallel and connect a positive to a positive on the other speaker, and a neg to a neg from one speaker to the other??

could you just tell me the specs on wiring like how you would do that

thanks man

The 2s go in series for 4 ohm.. the 4s in parallel for 2 ohm.. then to combine them would be parallel ... but now that I think about it.. 4 and 4 goes to 2.. 4 and 2 would go to 3? not 2.. but that should be fine on a 2 ohm stable amp..

So, 2s.. + of one coil to - of other, and - first to + second.. make an X (if I recall correctly).. the 4s are all +s together, all -s together.. parallel.. then, to parallel each set, amp + to each speaker +.. amp - to speaker neg..

here is a pic of what I'm thinking.. If someone sees a problem with it, let me (him) know..

u would get a 3 ohm load.

thats looks pretty good, that is what i was thinking off of kind of, i wanted to see what someone else had to say, hopefully it sounds good, which i think it should, but any more tips please tell me, plus one sub 400 and the other 500 rms it shouldnt make a difference since its not much difference, but if you have any more suggestions please tell me,

thanks

also, will i have any problems with my amp at all with that, i doubt it but what do you think???

thanks

As long as you keep the power to a pair under the 'weaker' subs, you will be fine (that means your 500 rms subs will only be running at a max of 400 rms for the weaker subs.. you try to push 500 and you can fry the smaller ones)..

will the 3 ohm sound just as good as the 2 ohm, like not have much difference, eventually i want a one ohm stable amp, and go to all dual 2 ohm subs

what do you think
