For as little power as you will be running... splitting the 4awg run to two 8awg runs is perfectly acceptable. You should also run the correct fusing though. To get the most out of the system, you should fuse the main 4awg line at 150a. Use a FUSED distro to split to the two 8awgs. Fuse those both at 80a a piece.

Fuses are not to protect the amp. They are to protect wire overdraw... which equals a short, or worse.

run parallel 4 awg. pretty much (2) 4 awg wires total (1) to each amp should be plenty fine with your setup

You'll be fine with the 4 AWG from the battery and 8 gauge from the dist block. I don't see any reason to go with 1/0 gauge considering the power you are running.

well if he has left over 4ga he could do that...be functional and save money at the same time. I was doing it for my system till i sold the second amp, doesnt hurt anything and definately didnt spend extra money.

This is what I was planning to do. There isn't anything wrong with doing this is there? I just ask cause most of the installs I see usually go to a smaller wire when splitting off the dist block.

I'm running 2 amps (400rms for subs, 200rms for speakers), so I figured one 4 gauge amp install kit should be plenty of wire. I don't really see the point of getting extra 8 gauge wire if you have left over wire you can use.
