2 alts?

I was thinking... if I have the room in my engine bay and can make the changes cheaply..

Would it be plausible to run two alts in my truck? my current amp puts out a meesly 63amps so if I got another and mounted it in I would have a total of 126amps which would be great. and my alts are cheap. without core exchange I can get one for about 50.00 from autozone.

anyone have any pro's and con's of this idea?

oh yea they make them... but I'm cheap.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif it's an old 75' chev truck. I've been looking around and can't find a H/O alt for under 200.00 and it this 50.00 fix will do it.. then wow.. why not.

it should be enough, I'm powering about 1500 watts on 63 amps it's ok till I try to drive at night.. my amps have a 10' 4 guage cable going to them and I have upgraded the big 3.

imo it seems like to much work for only 126 amps, but it will work if you know and feel like doing it.

I say go for it also. You could just go to a junkyard and get one off of a HD truck or a fullsize chevy. 105A stock and it worked fine for me and my viper d1200.1

Crap man, that truck is an antique. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I think those older trucks have alot of extra room under the hood.

ok I went around and asked alot of questions.. ended up that it would end up costing more probably to have a good welding shop make me brackets and to buy the alt... and plus I would lose horsepower //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so never mind..

one guy told me of a online shop that sells alts that are higher output but not super.. for a decent price. called http://www.summitracing.com I check it out and ordered one off of there.. a 100amp for 99.00.

just didn't want to lose any of the little horsepower I have. so I'll alost buy a nice big battery in the next few weeks to compensate for the crappy one I have now.
