First, the 7897. $165 Shipped. originaly sold it to bigaudio, then i just bought it back, and just realized it wont work for what i want so im going to sell it again. Internal amp is bad, not a problem for most of you, Come with unit, cage, remote, harness and ipod cable. Buttons have light, normal wear on them. Very rare and hard to find. Unit has 3 preouts including a sub, and i believe it might be active capable but im not sure.

Yes it's active capable. Steep slopes as well (-24db). 5 band parametric EQ. Great unit, one of the best Alpine has made IMO. It's basically a 7898 with an internal amp. I'll also add that it plays mp3's.

Alpine 9886, Comes with Box, remote, faceplate case, ipod cable, cage, trim ring, harness. This thing has been awesome, works great. Excellent shape, some light scratches on the faceplate but nothing extreme, picture is when it was brand new but its in my truck right now. $185 Shipped.

granted i am not 100% familiar with the 7897 but isn't is missing the dc/dc converter?

uh, no ??? What are you talking about lulz. Its not missing anything that i am aware of, it works fine like it is.

i only ask because i am looking for a backup for my 7998. the dc/dc converter comes out from the circled area below where you just have an opening. maybe there is a difference between the 7998 and the 7897 that i am not aware of.

this is the back of the 7998. you can see the dc/dc converter (silver box) and where it is connected.

I see that the 7897 normally has one, but im wondering what its for because ive tested this unit and it has no problems other than the internal amp not working, maybe that converter is what is stopping the internal amp from working but im not sure.

Is the 7897 fixable the amp internal problem? Ever priced it to be fixed. Need a good HU caz the deal with Pioneer came out to be a scam

Im not sure about fixing it but maybe it doesnt work because of that converter, i really have no idea where to go to find out. If your running external amps then why even worry about the internal ?
