i have a magnum r/t with the 6 speaker (oem) boston acoustic set up.

the mag's front speakers i believe are 6.5" and the rear speakers are 6x9"s along with 2 tweeters in the dash.

i have purchased 2 fosgate power 800 a2 amps along with 2 12" punch 2212 subs for $500.00 (used).

i have another $2,500.00 maximum to complete my system.

i plan on getting the alpine iva 300 along with the alpine ipod interface. if all works well, i can get those 2 items for around $1,100.00.

that leaves me $1,400 for components, 6x9"s, a 4 channel amp (to power those speakers), and installation (including custom box for subs).

any suggestions on the components/6x9/amp? also any suggestions on the install in the los angeles area?

yea- if you must, get adaptors to go from 6x9 to 6.5 and just get 4 sets of components ( PM TPlaya07 or DJdillion on the forums) and ask them about DLS and CDT components.

just get whatever component amp does between 50~150 w RMS per channel. not too hard to find one. almost every company will make one of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanx for the input...i think i'm goin with top of the line diamond audio components

and gonna try and fit some 6.5" components in the rear 6x9" slots....

the magnum's do not have rear door speaks...

as for the amp i been advised to go with diamond audio as well...what do u think?

do you like really smooth tweeters or more harsh tweets, wich are often associated w/ metalic tweteers??? have you heard the diamonds yet? if you like em thats fine, i just want you to be aware of what they sound like if you havnt heard them yet..huh? neways

for 6x9's i'd either get some aftermarket boston or some focals rears...i wouldnt suggest a set of comps back there..

as for the subs and amps...are those subs the power series or the punch series? if there the power series well done, but if they are the punch i think its overkill...and make sure all the ohms n such match up..im sure they do since you bought them as a package deal from someone else but just double checkin..

From my previous experience and mftr reputation, think about the dyn 240GT. Some people that look for premium speakers look into dyn components. It can be had for >$400 shipped (if the guy is still offering it at that price) from a guy in Singapore, whom I purchased it from. Extremely quick shipping and more than satisfactory service.

im gettin the diamond audio 600s (recommended) with the silk tweeters. i listen to a wide range of music. i hope they aren't too soft sounding. i'm gettin a good deal on them...around 250

the amp is either arcaudio or diamond audio 100watt x 4.

as for the subs, they are the punch HE2 2212s. i've been told that these speakers with these amps, i will not be using the amps to the fullest. i want to build a sealed box and the specs fosgate lists them is 1.25 cubic feet. i hope these subs dont ****, i just want clean tight bass. if they do ****, then i hope i can find good subs that i can swap right out of the box with the same amps. crossing my fingers...

just so you know, i know little to nuthin bout car audio. i've always been into "go" over "show" when it comes to cars.

so please excuse any ignorant statement that may come out in this post.

now that that's said...

on a side note, my friend has 2 12w6 in his escalade and i think they sound great.

his sound is something very similar to what i aiming for in my car.

i've done a little research comparing the specs of the fosgate 2212s with the JL 12W6.

the specs are very similar...

both speakers power handling RMS is listed at 400W.

nominal impedance: the 2212 is listed at "4ohm x 2", and the W6 is listed at "Dual 4ohm"...i think thats the same right (just wanna be sure)?

the sealed enclosures are both listed at 1.25 cubic ft.

the only thing that is worrying me is the mounting hole diameter...

the fosgate is listed at 11 1/8 inches while the JL is listed at 11 inches.

since i have the fosgates, the box hole diameter will obviously be built 1/8 inch larger than the mounting diameter for the JL.

i guess my first question would be will the JL mount in a hole that is 1/8 inch over sized?

if the answer to this question is yes...disregard the next...

second question, once a box has been made...is it possible to remove a portion of it? i.e. replace the piece of wood that holds the subs? or once it's made/glued sealed whatever..there is no turning back?

i wish the fosgates were the smaller speaker, cuz logic tell me u can alway cut out a larger hole...

thanx for any input

4ohm x 2 and dual 4ohm would be the same. The JL should mount in a 1/8in oversiezd hole, tolerances aren't that close for speakers holes. I'd still say cut it smaller and just cut out where its hitting the hole when you mount it, RF might have just given you an extra 1/8in to make sure it fits on the specs.

thats the best news i've heard all day...the last thing i want to go through is shellin out more $$$. i have the fosgates, i just want to give them a chance before throwing down another 500 bux or so.
