Does anybody know if its possible to fit a removable ported box for 2 15's in the trunk of a 2001 passat?

by removable i mean the box will be built out of the car and needs to fit in the trunk opening or door.

My friend wants to run 2 15" rd sonances and is shooting for 7 cubes net (probably going to be closer to 6). Its going to be tight for sure but if we can save the hassle of building a box and realizing it wont fit that would be very nice since he will likely buy the subs before he builds the box.

if you guys think it will fit what kind of numbers can we expect. he wants to do a forward firing design and seal it off from the trunk, i told him to expect 150's on music but was not sure. hes has about 1.8k rms

Any input is appreciated, thanks for the help.

i think ur gonna have to bust out a measuring tape
If it was my car it would already be done and measured. I know for a fact that if we built the box in the trunk it will fit easily but its getting it through the opening or door that im worried about.

Yes your right, im not sure how loud its gonna be, thats why i said that lol.

I would imagine that 1800-2k should get them sonances tmoving pretty good and 75% more cone area than me should easily offset the fact that he has half the power so im assuming its at least going to be louder than my setup maybe not 150s but easily 145's assuming it will fit even with only 6 cubes net i would be willing to bet its louder than my car.

Hes got a pair of 10's in there now on 1k rms and its very loud, never been metered but i would guess 140's on music and its a rear firing design.

I would guess that he could make better use of a pair of twelves and end up being louder that way. He will probably also be louder rear firing unless you seal it off extremely well.

Thats what i told him but hes set on 10's or 15's (since i run 12's he feel like hes copying me) and seeing as he doesnt want to do anymore electrical upgrades i thought 15's seemed logical if they would fit. I would imagine that a compact pair of 15's would be louder than a pair of 10's but i could be wrong.

As for the rear firing i also told him the same thing but he plans to seal it off i guess, im not really sure he realizes how many painstaking hours i took to just seal off my rear shelf and i still think it needs some work. Either way the enclosure for a rear firing or forward firing will be about the same size (slightly lower for rear firing so the pressure can get into the cabin over the top of the box)
