2 15" L7's not loud enough!!

Would a 175 amp fuse be alright considering that is what the current draw from the amp is?
Thanks for all the help
Well to be safe I'd do 150 amps, reason being is the fuse does not protect the amp but it protects the wire from overheating and causing a fire. 100 amps is too small though so thats another reason you keep blowing it. put 150 amp fuse in it till you can upgrade your wire.

(some people would say go with 175 amp fuse right now cause you'd only be drawing that current for a short time THAT decision is up to you, personally I would'nt want to turn MY car into a fire breathing dragon) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I have come to the conclusion that I do indeed need a bigger alternator. When the time comes and I get some funds, I will look into getting one. I know that the battery has a little bit to do with it because it discharges quite rapidly and I have to count on my alternator to supply my voltage.

I have decided on a deep cycle......bigger ALT.........1/0 gauge wire(very soon)......and a bigger fuse/fuse block. Hopefully i will get some power from my amp soon.

Thanks guys for all the help, much appreciated

Are you serious?
very

The battery has almost nothing to do with his voltage drops.
NOT true

Second, obviously the 100 amp alt. is not getting the job done if you are getting bad voltage drop.
So WHERE do you think the rest of the voltage comes from IF the alternator cannot keep up dude??? Please think before you post or I will flame your *** you'll learn something if you just read... TRUST me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You need to upgrade that as soon as you can.
FALSE the alternator CAN wait... 1st upgrade should be larger wire THEN the battery... A cheap deep cycle with the highest cca would be the best.

Also, The 4 gauge will only carry up to about 1350 watts for a 15 foot run so if it is about that length then that is all the power you can get out of your amp. Upgrade that.
I think I had that covered

Dont tune higher unless you are unhappy with the sound or the frequency curve. If it sounds alright just not loud enough then dont worry about it.
Here is where we FINALLY agree.. but remember his complaint was it was not loud enough. currently he's @ 35hz... If he's happy with the sound thats great, but he wants to be louder so I had to suggest the things that will do that... higher tune DOES = louder.. Are there sacrifices? of course and if he's happy @ 35hz thats cool....

The size of the box should be fine as well. It has to be something else or maybe it is just the voltage drop that is starving your subs from power.
You ended on a strong note so I offer a e-handshake , good way to turn it around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

no problem, yes ALL this crap costs money, and THATS the part that sux lol... you know what you need to do already from the sounds of it....

Just do the cheapest upgrades first. (wire, then bat and if you do those both you may not need an alternator)

good luck and let us know how it goes

I had bought the battery at an auto parts store here in town. I told the guy that I have an aftermarket sound system and that I would need a bigger battery then the one he got me. He went on and on to say that the battery is mainly needed to start the vehicle and run the lights. I asked him why they made bigger batterys with higher cold cranking amps then, and he replied that it depends on the vehicle.

I'm the type of person to not contradict someone, so I went along with him anyway.

Atlernator would have been my last resort anyway. So im going to upgrade wire, fuse/block, and then eventually the battery.

Thanks again.

you'd be surprised how little they know lmao, but thats cool, like what was mentioned earlier, if your alt cant keep up that power has got to come from somewhere. Deep cycles discharge faster than a normal battery.

And will not harm the battery by being discharged. Anyway good luck, good night and keep us posted

PEACE

how will a bigger fuse help? he's not blowing the one he has now.

somethings not right my 2 L715 with 2 MTX 81000d's makes it feel like an earthquake in and out of the car..they are in a 6.0 box tuned to 35 hz

with those mtx's I know your sh1t S L A M S //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif I'd like to hear THAT

True, if the amp is pulling so hard on the alt. that it drains all the power it will then pull from the batt., but fixing the alt. is a lot more efficient than the batt. The battery does have almost nothing to do with the voltage drops because if he had a solid alt. then the battery wouldnt have to do any work with the car on. Where we disagree is that the alternator should be replaced before the batt. So you're suggesting that he gets a deep cycle and drains the hell out of it, recharges it, drains it, recharges it, etc...? It makes more since to just get a bigger alt. and be done with it.. not to mention it will help the voltage drops A LOT more than just throwing a deep cycle in there to recharge when it gets run down. But the bottom line is to upgrade the wire and fuses first, and then alt./batt.. Im not trying to flame Im just trying to give him the proper help to get his chit bangin right.
